Chapter 10 - Last rites

1.
The immediate time preceding death has always had deep ritual and mystery around it.

2.
Historically it is a time of blessing, cleansing and prayer to help the person move peacefully from this world to the next.

3.
So it is the celebration of Resolution, sometimes known as last rites.

4.
Resolution, to dissolve to untie, to unite and free.

5.
The special celebration of blessing and cleansing to help an individual in the final stages of death to find a point of peace and resolution to their life in the hope of evoking the care of other minds already crossed to help guide the person safely.

6.
At this moment, I call upon every cell in my body, every drop of blood to hear my call.

7.
At this moment, I call upon the pain and the death within me to grant me this request.

8.
At this moment, I request that my body give me the strength and the grace to call.

9.
To call, with clarity of mind, free from the claws of pain.

10.
To call, with feeling of hope, free from the chills of fear.

11.
To call, with strength, that I may be clear with my words.

12.
For this call, I recognise myself and my name. I am (name)

13.
For this call, I recognise the place where I am. I am:- (location)

14.
For this call, I recognise the time I call. It is (month and year)

15.
For this call, I recognise my birth. I was born in (year and location)

16.
For this call, I recognise those who were my family in childhood (recite their names)

17.
For this call, I recognise those who were my friends during childhood (recite their names)

18.
May the grace I call from within allow me to complete my call.

19.
For this call, I recognise what I have made and what I have created (recite what you have made and what you have created)

20.
For this call, I recognise those that I have worked, those that I remember, including (recite their names)

21.
For this call, I recognise all those who I consider friends and family since childhood,
including (recite their names)

22.
May the grace I call from within allow me to complete my call.

23.
For this call, I recognise that which I have destroyed and uncreated during my life ( recite what you have destroyed and what you have uncreated).

24.
For this call, I recognise those that I did not know well, yet have hurt .

25.
For this call, I recognise those that I have known well and have hurt, including (recite their names and if possible how you hurt them).

26.
May the grace I call from within allow me to complete my call.

27.
For this call, I recognise the rest of humanity present of which I am a member, that without our forefathers and foremothers I would not have existed;

28.
For this call, I recognise the rest of life collective on this planet, the planet Earth, for without other life and the death of other life I wouldn’t not have lived;

29.
For this call, I recognise the planet of Earth itself and its sustaning power and
love, for without its seasons and waters, I would not have breathed and drunk.

30.
For this call, I recognise the Sun, its light and warmth, for without its light and warmth, no life could exist on earth and I would not have been.

31.
For this call, I recognise the solar system, that great system of which we are part, that without its structure and protection, would not have allowed life to evolve on earth and I would not have been.

32.
For this call, I recognise the galaxy, the milky way, that great collection of stars that protects our solar system and star, that if alone, our solar system could not survive

33.
For this call, I recognise all those human minds that have moved to a state of heaven- that continue to help the living, that have wisdom and those that have protected me an provided guidance in my life;

34.
Finally I recognise that which may be called ALL, the supreme spirit and matter that constitutes both the creator and the creation- All that is and at the same time all that is one- the Universal Collective Awareness.

35.
I trust in the grace formed within to allow me to complete my call

36.
I humbly call before all who I have recognised and concede that no power within the universe, nor power within my grasp can stop the truth that as human I shall one day day die.

37.
I humbly call before all who I have recognised and concede that I am not perfect and have never been perfect in my thoughts and in my actions. That I have both helped and hurt others from time to time.

38.
I humbly call before all who I have recognised and concede that I need help at this my hour of need.

39.
I lay my heart, my mind, my all before all who I have recognised, without condition and with humility.

40.
For all that I have hurt and all that I have wronged I am truly sorry.

41.
In naming you I name the shame of regret.

42.
In naming regret, I name those things that are unfinished between us.

43.
In naming that which is unfinished, I seek your forgiveness to move on.

44.
May you purify my mind, so that I may see clearly.

45.
May you purify my mind, so my call travels to the furthest reaches

46.
May you purify my mind, so that the memories of my past are stilled and at peace

47.
May you purify my heart, so that I feel love once more

48.
May you purify my heart, so that I feel the resolution within of my past, both good and bad

49.
May you purify my heart, so that I may understand that I am never alone, that I can feel I am never alone, that all that I recognise are always with me, for I carry a part of them in my body and my mind.

50.
May you purify my body, so that the pain gives way to peace

51.
May you purify my body, so that I may travel to the next with grace

52.
May you purify my body, as fair respect to the end of one life.

53.
In the purity and humility you help me feel, I now summons those to help
me in my hour of need.

54.
I summons those that I have loved and those that have loved me

55.
I summons those that I have hurt and those that I have wronged

56.
I summons those spirits that have guided me rightly and look over me now

57.
I call that they here my call and offering

58.
To these I offer my heart, my purified heart. Grant that they may feel peace in my passing.

59.
Grant that whatever may be unresolved in flesh is resolved in feeling.

60.
That I truly understand now this feeling of love as it envelopes me and carries away the fear. These words I speak, these pure feelings I feel.

61.
I summons the spirit that is humanity, that is the collective mind of humanity

62.
I call that all humans hear my call and offering

63.
To you all, I offer my mind, here and in the next journey. Grant me the insight and the knowledge to overcome the pain and the anxiety.

64.
Do not leave me, nor make me feel naked at my hour of death.

65.
For I pledge that in granting me wisdom I shall seek to serve the betterment of humanity.

66.
I summons all that is life and the earth and all that is ALL

67.
To you, I offer my body and my being. I thank you for life. I thank myself for life. That I began as dust, I shall return to dust. Grant me peace.

68.
I call that life and the earth grant me this request.

69.
This is my call

70.
Grant me peace

71.
Grant me freedom from judgment, from fear, from pain

72.
Grant me enlightenment, the light that shines from this life to the next

73.
This is my call and praise to all I recognize

74.
Peace be to you all

75.
Peace be to the world

76.
Peace be to this life
