Chapter 2  
     
1.
 When Inanna entered the Abzu He gave her butter cake to eat.  
2.
 He poured cold water for her to drink.
 
3.
 He offered her beer before the statue of the lion.
 
4.
 He treated her respectfully.
 
5.
 He greeted Inanna at the holy table, the table of heaven.
 
6.
 Enki and Inanna drank beer together.
 
7.
 They drank more beer together.
 
8.
 They drank more and more beer together.
 
9.
 With their bronze vessels filled to overflowing,
 
10.
 With the vessels of Urash, Mother of the Earth,
 
11.
 They toasted each other; they challenged each other.
 
12.
 Enki, swaying with drink, toasted Inanna: "In the name of my power! In the name of my holy shrine!
 
13.
 To my daughter Inanna I shall give The high priesthood! Godship!
 
14.
 The noble, enduring crown! The throne of kingship!"
 
15.
 Inanna replied: "I take them!"
 
16.
 Enki raised his cup and toasted Inanna a second time: "In the name of my power! In the name of my holy shrine!
 
17.
 To my daughter Inanna I shall give Truth!
 
18.
 Descent into the underworld!
 
19.
 Ascent from the underworld!
 
20.
 The art of lovemaking!
 
21.
 The art of kissing the penis!"
 
22.
 Inanna replied: "I take them!"
 
23.
 Enki raised his cup and toasted Inanna a third time: "In the name of my power! In the name of my holy shrine!
 
24.
 To my daughter Inanna I shall give The holy priestess of heaven!
 
25.
 The setting up of lamentations! The rejoicing of the heart!
 
26.
 The giving of judgements! The making of decisions!"
 
27.
 Inanna replied: "I take them!"
 
28.
 Fourteen times Enki raised his cup to Inanna.
 
29.
 Fourteen times he offered his daughter five Me (spiritual understandings/powers), six me, seven me.
 
30.
 Fourteen times Inanna accepted the holy me.
