  Article 109-Candidates  
109.1 Candidate  
  A candidate is any member of One Spirit Tribe who upon making a valid application to stand for office seeks to be elected to local, regional, national or international office.  
  By this Covenant, there shall be two (2) types of candidates, independent candidates and faction endorsed candidates known as "endorsed candidates".  
  An independent candidate is a man or woman who seeks office free of any endorsement of a faction;  
  An endorsed candidate is any member of One Spirit Tribe who winning proper endorsement at a Convention is seeking election of office in a future election for local, regional, national or supreme government level of One Spirit.  
  A member who is not properly validated as either an independent or endorsed candidate but nonetheless seeks election shall be subject to disciplinary action and possible expulsion.  
109.2 Endorsed candidate  
  An endorsed candidate is only a valid candidate of One Spirit Tribe is they have been preselected at a Candidates Convention for a faction according to the rules of this Covenant.
 
  Factions must preselect only one candidate per position of office at level of the organization they operate, excluding international elections. International factions are not permitted.  
  A man or woman who has not been preselected at a Candidates Convention according to the rules of this Covenant shall not be a valid faction endorsed candidate of One Spirit Tribe and shall not be permitted to claim such recognition, nor stand for election to office.
 
109.3 Nominators  
  All applicants seeking to be recognized as candidates for election must complete the appropriate forms associated with the office to which they seek election, including the evidence of nominators willing to vouch for their candidacy.  
  A nominator is a member willing to sponsor a member for their election. Like a member sponsor, a nominator in giving their signature and endorsement is pledging a bond with the man or woman seeking office.  
  The following shall be the minimum number of required nominators for positions at each level of the organization:  
  (i) All local vacancies shall require applicants for candidacy to present at least six (6) nominators;  
  (ii) All regional vacancies shall require applicants for candidacy to present at least twelve (12) nominators;  
  (iii) All national vacancies shall require applicants for candidacy to present at least thirty-six (36) nominators;  
  (iv) All international vacancies shall require applicants for candidacy to present at least one hundred and forty four (144) nominators;  
109.4 Candidates Convention  
  A Convention (Candidates Convention) is an official event at which certified members are permitted to vote to choose to select the candidates running for office of a local, regional, national or international branch of One Spirit.
 
  By this Covenant, each level of One Spirit Tribe shall have only one (1) convention per faction per local branch, regional branch or national branch coinciding with cycle of elections for the same local area, region, nation or international positions at which factions select their endorsed candidates.
 
  All Candidates Conventions must be convened no earlier than 180 days prior to the commencement of the 40 day election cycle and no later than 120 days prior to the commencement of an election cycle.  
109.5 Endorsed Candidate applicant
 
  An endorsed candidate applicant is a member seeking permission to be endorsed as a candidate for election to a local, regional, national or international office of One Spirit Tribe, or an existing office holder seeking re-endorsement as a candidate for the organization.
 
  All endorsed candidate applicants must be registered and complete the appropriate application forms and procedures as defined by this Covenant. Futhermore, a candidate applicant must meet the criteria as specified by the particular office in question.
